Vintage Postcard Value Research Checklist

Value research gets better when the card is documented well enough to find genuinely comparable examples.

I scanned or photographed the entire front and back. I transcribed the caption, publisher, number, and series exactly. I identified the place, building, business, route, event, or subject. I estimated an era from multiple physical clues. I documented postmark, stamp, message, and whether the card is used. I documented corner wear, creases, stains, trimming, album marks, and repairs. I checked for reproductions, modern reprints, and altered cards. I searched exact captions and publisher numbers. I found completed sales for the same view or a close equivalent. I considered town scarcity and subject-specific collector demand.
